Editorial policy and corrections

A wrong figure here could push someone into a switch that does not pay, or keep them from one that does. So this page says where every figure comes from and what happens when one is wrong.

Responsibility

Radif Partners is responsible for content and calculators. Contact: contact@zusatzbeitragrechner.de.

Primary sources only

  • GKV-Spitzenverband: the list of health funds with their current additional rates and the states where they are open;
  • gesetze-im-internet.de: Books V, XI and IV of the Social Code and the BAföG act as in force;
  • Federal Law Gazette and Federal Gazette: amending acts and the notice of the average additional rate;
  • Federal Labour Ministry: social insurance reference values, dated by draft, cabinet decision and publication;
  • Federal Health Ministry: care insurance rates and the status of bills.

Comparison portals, blogs and press releases are not sources, even when they rank first.

Checks before every release

More than thirty cases worked out by hand run as automatic tests, including the published worked example for the transition zone. A deviating value stops the release. The daily fund download aborts if the list looks incomplete.

Rhythm

Fund list daily; thresholds and rates with every ordinance, notice or amendment; a full review at least every 12 months. Bills are described as bills and never calculated before they are law; provisional 2027 values carry their status and are replaced once final.

Handling errors

  1. Check against the primary source.
  2. Fix the parameter file or calculator and add a test that catches the error in future.
  3. New date on every page; a substantive correction is noted on the page concerned.

Independence

No money from health funds, comparison portals, brokers or supplementary insurers, no partner links and no recommendation of any single fund. The ranking order comes from the additional rate alone.
